An Eternal Promise

Image
Hey peoples! Let's get into it. So we had a baptismal date for Lucy on Saturday. So we had a great, strong lesson with her on Thursday in hopes of coming out with her confident in being baptized, because she still hadn't felt ready. Though at the end, she still wasn't feeling ready to be baptized that weekend. So we are continuing to help her have more courage to be baptized and see if she has more doubts or feelings so we can work through them. Hermana Claudia, who was the hermana that gave us the reference for Lucy, also said that her mom was interested in listening to the missionaries, so will work with her family too! Hopefully that will work out great and be a better way for Lucy to feel more confident. And onto this week. We found a woman named Samantha. Or, Elder Leon and Elder Garcia found her, but it was in Obregon nonetheless. She has a strong desire to improve her life to be baptized. She accepted a fecha for the 26th of May while Elder Garcia and I returne...

We Almost Died (My Worst Enemy Strikes Again)

Image
The title might sound a little dramatic, which is probably true, but we will get to that later. So last Monday there was an FHE for the whole ward, and there were three kids there, Jerry, Regina, and Jesus who are friends of one of the families. Then we returned to visit them on Thursday, only to find out that they have school in the afternoons. So we haven't gotten back with them yet, but we have an FHE planned with them and the member family. Though the member family is moving to Toluca like next week. So that's kind of a bummer, but the work goes on!  So Lucy still has the fecha for this saturday, though she wasn't able to come to church on Sunday because she left town. She still doesn't feel ready to be baptized, But we are working hard and praying that everything will work out this weekend.  And then I went on exchanges with Elder Leon and we went to our cita with Maria and Juan. Maria wasn't there, but Juan was and we had a great lesson with him. J...

Weekend of Milagritos

Image
Hello peoples of the universe. It is I, Elder Turner. So like the title states, this weekend was something a little special. And it got to the point where we were just like, "what is happening right now?" It started Saturday afternoon after we found a super nice younger lady who runs a little boutique in her house. She always has family and friends over, but she was super friendly and said she'll make time for us. And then later we were walking by this house about to knock it, when this drunk guy walks out the gate. We start talking to him a little, and we say that we are missionaries here to preach the word of God. Then immediately he opens the gate and tells us that his mom has been crying. So we go in and see his mom crying because she was feeling alone. After singing a hymn and talking a little bit, they said that God sent us here for a reason to help them. Then after we started walking away from that visit, this guy yells at us and signals us to come. So...

Zone Conference? Already?

Image
So it had only been 3 weeks frin the last one, and we already had Zone Conference. I guess that what happens when you move to a new zone!:P  Part of the Zone Conference was all the missionaries teaching part of it, so me and Elder Leon got to talk a little about Baptism Dates. How to place them, When to place them. Etc. And, well so far I am not even close to being good in that area, it was helpful to learn as we talked about it. Other topics included finding new investigators and the Book of Mormon.  The other part of Zone Conference was water activities, because supposedly it was getting hot. But it just so happened that the one day where we had these activities, was the one day it was cold. The one day that it was actually cold. All these other days have been hot. Except the day we played with water. How fun. Nahh but it was actually a lot of fun, ending with nearly everyone getting soaked.  We started teaching the babysitter of a member, named Lucy, and sh...

Obregón... Ups and Downs... And General Conference

Image
Oh hi, didn't see you there.  This past week has been quite crazy.  First, the week started off good as I arrived in Saltillo and got working with my new comp, Elder Garcia. Then on wednesday night, Elder Garcia got sick. Which threw off basically the rest of our working days for this week.  Then saturday came along with General Conference!! That was super exciting to hear about the newly ordained apostles, Elder Gong and Elder Soares. Along with all the changes to home and visiting teaching to minstering and the Elders Quorom and High Priest's group forming together. It was quite interesting though, as all of it was in Spanish and the sessions on Sunday were an hour later for us because the time changed Saturday night between sessions. But all in all, hearing the advice that the apostles and prophets have for us is always edifying and uplifting. But now to go and listen to all of them again in English!:P And then today we went bowling and ate some hamburg...
