Week 3-4 in Sabinas. I think...

¿ Qué pasa? So first off, it has become increasingly apparent to me of how important the Book of Mormon is in every part of our lives. Never before have I been so invested and started pondering about this book that I have known for my whole life! I know of a surety that the Book of Mormon, el Libro de Mormón, is the keystone to our religion and that man will get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book, as said by Joseph Smith. It is definitely a central part of missionary work as well! So how's life y'all? Sabinas is awesome! So every martes we have exchanges where the zone leaders and district leaders go on splits with the missionaries. So this past week Elder Junior and Elder Atkin went conmigo in my area and Elder Garcia went with Elder Lorenzo in his area. And Elder Junior is an awesome guy and a fantastic missionary, and he gave Elder Atkin and I some tips and tricks. Like to say, "Vendemos jabón y perfumes", or "We sell soap...

Week 2-3 in Sabinas. So New Casa??

Image
Majestic pic of myself. Hola muchachos! Entonces, this past week wasn't quite the normal turn of events...  But it was still pretty good. So we have been living with Elder Atkin and Elder Lorenzo for the first week or two, because our house wasn't ready yet. But on thursday we were able to move into our new casa! It isn't too big but it's pretty nice! My mattress is just on the floor because I don't have a bed frame, but the mattress is fantastic. In other news, we helped Hermana Hafner move some boxes and a bookcase in her house, and it was quite the ordeal. This bookcase was bigger than the door was... By quite a lot... And it was custom made, so it was pretty heavy. But eventually we figured out how to turn it to best fit it through the door and got it to it's home where it has less than an inch of space on both sides.  And then, there was this guy outside one of these Oxxo's that stopped us and wanted to talk with us, and his name ...

And Off We Go!

Image
So the past week has been insane. It feels like a month has passed and it's only been a week. Anyways, so we arrived in Saltillo and spent most of the day at President Cahoon's house. Then on tuesday we had some presentations and other stuff for the mission field, and then we met our companions. My comp is Elder Garcia, who actually never learned Spanish from his parents, who are Mexican. He has been in the field for about 6 months and is from California. The area that we were assigned to go to is Sabinas. Sabinas is a little city in between Monclova and Piedras Negras. At the moment we are in the same house with Elder Atkin and his comp Elder Lorenzo, who is from Panama, because they are still figuring a contract for our house so we can move in. But tomorrow we are talking with the landlady so it should be good. Also, there aren't any warm showers yet, because we'd have to pay extra for gas to get a warm shower. Anways, so the last several days have been pretty long,...

We are in Saltillo!

So we have finally made it to Saltillo and we had breakfast and lunch at President Cahoon's house! He is really awesome, but also has high goals for this mission. He says that this mission isn't where he wants it to be yet, so we are here to help it grow. He says he wants each of us to baptize 2 people a month and contact 68 people a week to get 16 progressing investigators. A lot of finding and searching and much more hard work. Tonight we are going street contacting with other missionaries in this area, and then tomorrow we will find out who our companion is and go to our first area. Anyways, I didn't get to say goodbye on the phone, so I love you Mom and Dad! And everyone back home! Here are some pics!

La Último Semana en la CCM

Image
Oh hi! Didn't see you there! So we head off this Monday from the CCM at around 3:30 am, and our flight leaves at like 7:20. So it will be a long day of travel. But I am very excited to get out into the mission field and serve the people of Saltillo!  Not much has happened this past week, as compared to the other weeks, besides General Conference. Needless to say, General Conference was pretty awesome. I think some of my favorite talks were by W. Craig Zwick about the Lion King and Dieter F. Uchtdorf about being a bearer of Light in the Priesthood Session.  Entonces, our Latino companions dipped earlier this week so now our district has no friends... But it's k because we are leaving Monday. Besides that, the devotional on Tuesday night was pretty cool and President Eves totally called everyone out. There is always something that we can do better to be a representative of Jesus Christ. Expect a much better letter next time, as a lot more will have happened. But ...
