New Companion and Tons of Rain

Image
Hey guys. How are you. So yeah my comp is Elder Montiel-Bravo. He is American with Mexican parents. From Seattle Washington. He's a cool guy.  Last week we found a bunch of cool people. A part-member family. A boyfriend of a member. A son of a member. And a few other people.  And wednesday it rained a little bit. Then thursday it completely down-poured. And the street we live on turned into a river.  Then Sunday we had Stake Conference and Elder Pino, President Cahoon, and the Temple President of Monterrey all came to it. They released the Stake President Cardenas, who had served for 9 years and called a new Stake Presidency. It was a really good conference and they talked about receiving revelation and what is normal for us and our families. It was awesome.  Then today it rained insanely hard once again. What a show.  Anyways, here's the pics and a video of the insane river on our street. (The videos would not work) And our wonderful...

Transfers Once Again

Image
First off. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD! Even though it was yesterday... But love you a lot and thanks for everything you've done for me and the fam! Also to all the rest of you father's out there!  So yeah it's transfer week again. I am not going anywhere from Obregon. But my companion is leaving to Cañada, which is still in the zone. So my new companion is Elder Montiel-Bravo, who happens to be my brother in the mission! He also speaks 3 languages and is from Seattle, I believe. So that should be awesome. Anyways, so as in news for this week. We did a lot of exchanges to do baptism interviews, so it was crazy. But amidst the craze we put a fecha with one of our investigators, Elisa, for the 8th of July. She is a reference from a member, because she said she wanted to become closer to God because of some trials and wanted to meet with the missionaries. She has gone through quite some stuff recently with her son, and really wants to overcome it by coming closer to God...

Lucy's Baptism!

Image
How've y'all been? I hope great!  So first off, the baptism of Lucy went great! Elder Garcia baptized her and I got to confirm her! It was kind of scary, because I hadn't confirmed anyone before, let alone in Spanish. But at this point my spanish is good enough I don't have to worry too much!:P But yeah, Lucy is definitely a real convert. On Sunday, we were planning on meeting her at a place that we usually meet her to go to church. So we get there and wait for a while and then call her. My comp asks "We are here waiting for you. Where are you at?" and then she's like "Oh I am at the church already." We were like What?? Youre already there? So then we left and went to church.:P  None of Lucy's actual family came to the baptism, but she has friends and family in the church!    We also set a date with Beatrice to be baptized for the  16th of July . Even though it's a monday, she wants to be baptized on the same day t...

Resolving Doubts

Image
So this past week was kind of crazy because a lot of interchanges went down during the week, but it ended in a fantastic way. So let's just get that news out of the way, shall we? So Lucy, an investigator that we have had for quite a while didn't want to get baptized because of different doubts, we believed. So Saturday, we were planning on inviting her to a baptism that was going to happen but fell through, so instead we just visited and talked with her.  We walked around the plaza, letting her ask questions so we could answer questions she had and try to resolve some of her doubts. And at the end, we basically asked her, "So what do you say? Will you get baptized?" And she agreed. So this weekend Lucy will be getting baptized!!! It's super exciting and she already has some great friends within the church! Now hopefully we will see if their family is interested too! Anyways, in other news. A quick rundown. Between last wednesday and today, on thursday I...

Spirituality and Suffering (and it's Wednesday) WITH LOTS OF PHOTOS

Image
Ok, so first off so y'all don't freak out. We changed our P-day for the week to  Wednesday  so we could go to the Museo del desierto. Ok good. That's over. On to the email. So as probably all of you know by now, I was sick with what the doctors told me was chickenpox. So that was just horrible. I had a bunch of spots everywhere and worse I couldn't leave to work for a while. But it was honestly nice to have a rest for a while. But now its back to work. Day 2 of chicken pox Day 5 or 6 of chicken pox So last week we had a multi-zone conference with Elder Pino of the Seventy. It was really awesome and focused on receiving revelation to find those who the Lord has prepared through studying and planning and praying, as it teaches in D&C 8 and 9. It was also a great experience to meet Elder Pino, even though I was afflicted with chickenpox and kind of separated from everything. (They even took a separate picture of me to photoshop into the picture ...

Happy Mother's Day

Image
So first off, sorry that the laptop I used didn't have a good microphone, but atleast we got to talk for a little bit!! It was quite interesting just listening to everyone and not really being able to talk back. It was alright!:P But lets go through some of the highlights for the past week, shall we? Well, so we are having Elder Pino, who is a General Authority of the Seventy, some to our mission next week. We will be having a multi-zone conference with him presiding. That will be a really awesome experience.  Something kinda funny. So we found these two people, Nayla and Alexa. Nayla has 2 little kids and Alexa is her niece. We talked with them and shared a lesson, then set an appointment to return  Saturday . So we returned and found Lupita and Micol. Lupita has a little kid and Micol is her niece. We found Lupita and Micol in almost the exact same situation, because it was an aunt with kids with her niece. All of them are cool and let us in without any problems!...

Not Much... And You?

Image
Wassup everybody. How's it going?  So this past week, not much happened. Besides the fact that it was the last week of the transfer, not much at all. Nothing really changed with Elder Garcia and I, but a lot of the zone did change.  Some of the highlights, We came across the chocolate river of Willy Wonka. It would've been cooler, but it was polluted with trash so we couldn't jump in like Augustus. So that was kind of disappointing. I've always wanted to jump into a chocolate river.   In other news, the rain season is upon us here in Saltillo. It's kind of funny, missionaries here always want to go to Saltillo during the summer because it's not as hot and it gets rain. And lucky me, I am here in Saltillo. Though there is still a few more months of insane heat in the rest of the mission. It has been raining almost daily for the past week or two. The temperature is always different.  And Tuesday I went on splits with Elder Ashe. It wa...
