Note from his Mom -
We are really grateful that we got to speak with Elder Turner on Christmas Day. I guess because we talked, he didn't feel the need to write an email too. This was our last Christmas call with Elder Turner! During our call we found out about an altercation that happened to him and his companion by some locals. Now this actually happened earlier in the year, in August. His mission president asked that he not tell us about this until later in his mission. I guess the president was afraid that I might go and get Josh..... maybe or maybe not. So to the altercation. Elder Turner and his companion were walking home, after a day's work of serving the Lord, down a street that was pretty dark. On the other side of the street were 4 men walking the opposite direction. As they got closer, the men crossed to the same side of the street. there was a car parked on the side of the road where the men kind of just stood by. Elder Turner was just thinking that these men just wanted to talk with them like others have done throughout his mission. Well, they didn't talk, at all. Instead they just came up to them and without saying anything at all, punched Elder Turner and his companion in the face! So they turned around and took of running away up the street. It was a little lighter up the street and there was a family outside playing. Elder Turner said that's when the men decided to not chase after them anymore. They made it home safe. Josh said he was a little sore the next day but no bruises or anything. I am grateful that Josh and his companion were able to get away from this experience. In a way, I'm glad that I found out about this by talking with him when I could see his face! He looks great and happy to be serving!
Thank you for your love and concern for Elder Turner!
