Putting Aside Desires
Hey everyone! So sorry this email is late, but our P-day was changed due to zone conference on monday. So I am emailing today!
This past week was quite great. And let's see why.
So, last week, we were contacting in a colony that is very far from where we live. Like the other side of our area around 7PM. We found a couple people that seem promising, and around 8 I thought that we had found enough people for that day and wanted to start heading back home. But I didn't tell my companion that, and after thinking a bit more, I realized that we still have time to find more people. So we kept going, and shortly after, we knock on this door and a lady, Erica, answers. I saw that she was close by the door with her daughter on the inside, discussing something. After introducing ourselves and talking a bit, she told us that when she saw us out the window she knew that God had put us there for a reason. So she left to speak with us, She was passing through a trial with her daughter, and was glad that we spoke with her. We gave her the Book of Mormon, as well as a card with a bunch of questions that the Book of Mormon answers. She said that many of the questions caught her attention on the card, and said she would look them up. Then after setting a return appointment, we asked if we could do anything else to help her out, and she said "No, I think you have already helped me out a ton." It was an awesome experience,
Then we also were able to speak with Gabriela yesterday for the first time in a long time. She said that she still wants to be baptized, and wants to follow Jesus Christ. Her and her husband committed to coming to church this Sunday! If everything goes great, she could get baptized next week!
And then tonight, we will be talking with Elena and how we can help her have the courage to get baptized, despite the fact that her dad doesn't want her too. I hope it goes well.
Zone Conference was awesome as well! It was about establishing a culture of Christ, and raising our love and expectations. We also played sports and ate some pizza too that day!
And the work still continues over here. Finding more people, teaching lessons, having FHE's, and working harder to be better. Here's pictures from the zone conference and also when Monclova got shot.
Love you all!
