Celebration Week
What's going on everybody?
So this past week was rather eventful, full of hopes and broken dreams, and the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
Ok, ok, ok. That might be a bit of an overstatement and exaggeration. But let's get into it.
So, the week was rather slow, at the start. Mostly because of Halloween on Wednesday, and then Dia de Muerte after. So finding people and going to citas and actually finding them at home was hard. BUT, I continue.
We had hopes of baptizing Gabriela last weekend, but it didn't fly. Gabriela was injured during work and has to take some days to heal up, and then her husband worked longer hours than normal, so we couldn't even go to visit them and finish teaching the lessons. But hopefully, this weekend we can hold her baptism!
And then, Elena, the JAS who is basically a member already but hasn't been baptized yet, has hopes of getting baptized on the 19th of November, because she has a vacation day from school in Monterrey. So hopefully she can get her dad to come too so that she'll get baptized. So that will be exciting if it happens then! I have faith it will!
We also started teaching Christian this week too. We taught him the Plan of Salvation on viernes, and it was cool to see his interest spark in the gospel. It is kind of hard for him right now, because his family is in the US and he was deported back to Mexico, but he is gaining interest. We also had a lesson on faith with him during church too. Which he also related with a lot. We hope to put a fecha with him this week too!
So, we had a lesson with these two kids, named Brian and Adriana. Their mom told us to go and teach them, so we did. Brian has a prosthetic leg, and he seemed more interested in the lesson than his sister. But they seem like they have good potential.
And then on Saturday morning, we went on splits for a bit to look for new people to teach. I went with Elder Gordon, and it was cool being with him for that time and seeing how he connects with people easily. One of the people we found is named Daniel. And it was just a short discussion with him about eternal families, but it was good. And then as we were walking back to meet up with my comp and his comp, Daniel pulled up in his car by us and handed us some water. So that was cool.
We also talked with this young woman named Sinai, who works at a tienda that we stop by sometimes. She is a Christian and is interested in coming to church with us. So that has potential as well. But yeah! I think that's all the highlights from last week!
Enjoy these other pictures from the Military Expo last week.
I hope you all had a great Halloween! Love you!
